How long does it usually take from the time you guys finish a book till it is released?

It's happened in as little as nine months, but the contract gives them up to eighteen months.

David, one more question so the contract gives del ray up to 18 months to publish your books so that mean that they have to publish it no later then november of this year for recoil. However if they are smart publishing wings of fire within 2 or 3 months of recoil would improve sales on both books.

I'd have to go back in my records to see exactly when we turned in Recoil, but yeah, by the contract they have to publish it no later than October or November of this year. Which puts it out right in time for the election. Hopefully, by then everybody will be so sick of CNN's wall-to-wall coverage of the campaigns-and-nothing-but-the-campaigns that people will be desperately looking for something else and will buy up scads of the book just for some relief from CNN's wall-to-wall etc. Fortunately, I get BBC America, which means that, when BBCA isn't covering international cricket tournaments, I can get some actual news.

Publishers don't usually like to put out books by one author close together, so it's unlikely that Wings of Hell will be released that close to Recoil.

Isn't it good for CNN to report whats happening in politics other being bias about the candidate? All we have here is three min. coverage of our municipal, provincal and federal election for each day. Then there is one debate on a certain thats a few hours long.
