skink i think you misunderstand...they are just warning you that alot of people who boast about the war might not be all they say they are...and alot are telling tall tales and were never on the actual battle field...
Belief is the hardest thing to fight...

Skinkie, I think David and Dan, and I may have read them wrong, have come to terms with God and themselves, concerning their time in the service. And I do not think they have issues with the videos. What they are more concerned with is the imbellishment of the truth when the stories are told to you.
It is good that you are taking an interest in a past that so greatly defined who our favorite authors are now. But they only want you to know the actual true history of events and how to discern between facts and fiction when hearing a "War Story".
As a child I would ask my Uncles about their time in Korea and Vietnam. Neither of them would talk about it, stating "The world is a better place without such memories". After a time I quit asking.

Eric's right on target here.  He's been around.  What I'm saying is don't take too much of what you hear at face value.  That's a good rule to follow throughout life and especially in an election year.  But nothing pisses me off more than guys who claim to have been heroes but weren't.  That's stealing from real heroes.

Well, the only stories I hear are from my Family members. Many people who say they were in the service  and then tell a Tall Tell piss me off. And I can seperate Fact from Fiction. Here are my rules:

1. Look into the person's eyes if they are big then they are lying

2. If they start to stutter

3 And last but not least, they always have to go somewhere when ever you ask them questions.

See?

Skinkie, you better come up with better indicators than that. A person can condition themselves unknowingly to pass all those. Most pathalogical liars do it so often and so well you would never know they are lying. And the "War Stories" are told so often that it becomes real to those telling it, so those indicators would read a false negative.

I have an Ex-girlfriend (no not you Marsha), I swear that the only way you could tell she was lying is when her lips moved. She had no other indicators.
