Skinky, no never met the man.  He only came on active duty in 1974; I retired in 1980, so he's 13-14 years younger than I.

But isn't he your boss since the military works on ranks? Or was your boss the secetary of Defence?

Skink, Petraeus was a mere lieutenant when Dan was a sergeant major. Lieutenants outranking sergeants major is a very minor techincality. In fact, lieutenants are beneath notice for sergeants major.
