lol yeah...it was nice, a little weird, but nice, when does the skink get up and running again?
So...how are Gas prices in everyone elses neck of the woods? I'm paying 4.69 for regular here in SoCal...actualy I'm paying for premium at 4.89 since my old blue bomber dont run right without it...
Just been busy with kids getting out of school, keeping me up during day, so drowsy as heck. Still reading some, slowed down past couple weeks.
Got Davids latest two books, reading "the hunt" now, about half way thru, took a break from military sci-fi, finished Heinlein's "the moon is a harsh mistress", interesting read, tough for some reason to get thru. I just started AC Clarke's Rendevous with Rama, never had got around to reading it.Going to finish The hunt today, and over weekend pick it up a bit Junkyard Dogs, Rama, then two more heinlein "the number of the beast" and "stranger in a strange land". Probably back to military sci-fi next week.
Gas here in Kansas City, Missouri, plain regular is 3.86 a gallon, but has been as high as 3.97. I fully expect it to go over 4 the closer to the holiday we get, and stay up over the month of July.
I assume its quiet onboards cause most folks getting in vactions, getting out of school, etc. More outdoor activities than indoor comptuer stuff.
If you get a chance, watch the new hulk, pretty solid movie I have to say. Better than the 2003 version. Marvel doing their own movies now, they seem to have the idea, opposed to most of holywood, "Listen to the fans!!". Looking forward to The Dark Knight and Hancock, look pretty good.
If your into computer games at all, My friend bought and finished first run thru Bioware's "Mass Effect". Been on console game box for a bit, but this version is supposed to have fixed a bunch of problems. He said was best game he has ever played, and seems to have pretty good replayability, finished in about 15 hours. My computer isnt fast enough (need upgrade bad) to play or would. I bought Elderscrolls: oblivion and couldnt even play it, dam vid card to slow. Been working little overtime to try and stay ahead of our wonderful econmy, might slip in a couple upgrades next month.
Ummmm.....Hmmmm Myspace made big upate yesterday if your a user. Mostly navigation and so forth, also Firefox Web browser version 3 came out yesterday, not to shabby. Tim Russert passed away, shame, good reporter, good guy all around, considering we live in the days of media hype, sensationalist, fear mongering crap.
Before ya ask, no floods here in Kansas City, MO, but dam Iowa getting pounded. The floods are a tradgedy, and I hope all the best for the people who are affected, but saw a kinda funny cartoon related to it in the KC Star opinion section. It had Uncle sam standing by a barrel of ethanol, and a lady with a grocery cart. The caption said " think you can convert it back?", if ya need explaining can do in other post.
If ya happen to own a summer home/time share in south east afghanistan, or some rock front property, might want to get rid of that, little iffy over there.
Never did ask here, being we all mostly MilSciFI readers, but and Dune fans? I dont want to start some big debate or anything, believe me Im on some other forums where it rages on by the day, yes Im hardcore dune fan, Orthodox Herbertarian as we refer to ourselves these days, but again just curious.
Speaking of Dune, Idea.If you are or arn't a fan you might not know but a gentlemen with the approval of Frank Herbert(FH) compiled and published the Dune Encylopedia, a comphrehensive work providing detail into areas of the original Six books not before published. David and Dan do you think you would be interested in looking at something like that if it was compiled? Might be another publishing opportunity, but I dont know your plans. Something covering, Characters backgrounds, equipment, military organization, Campaigns, government, politics, planets, etc. Just a thought, Starfist is quite large, not many series (except for some in the starwars/startrek fanboy genre) get this large.
There is also a work called "The Road to Dune" a book with some extra chapters not implemented in the originals, a large backstory of how and what FH went thru to get Dune published. It includes a "first draft" called spice world, and some short stories as well, a neat tome to be sure. A Collection work by David and Dan, hmmmmmm...... "The Road to Starfist" some background on your adventures in publishing, notes, first drafts, background research? again maybe another publishing opportunity, and a treat for fans.
If eric gets StarFist to the big/Little silver screen, could be bigger even still!! I mean I can totally already see Starfist as an episodic TV show, the books are so well written and balanced, its a perfect fit. With eric's efforts so far can only hope for the best! Go Eric, Hollywood the TROLL HAS SPOKEN, LISTEN UP AND TAKE NOTICE!!!
That should spur some posting. Also hoping in next couple weeks to preorder the two new starfist books, looking forward to those.
Thats about all thats rolling about my skull at moment, Sorry for rambling, drowsy and punchy, gonna get back to Rocks adventure and see where it leads me
FairDay,
