I went to many mess nights and balls in my ten years, and had a blast at all of them. The one I remember the most was my second year in, was stationed in New River Air Station, they had the Marine Corp ball in one of the helo squadrons hangers. They brought in a wooden floor and built it up, smooth dancing, slick almost, lights decoration, beautiful all over. Open bar, drank and danced my self silly. The memorable moment was this, I had no idea it had happened, but about 30 minutes into the ball, the plumbing in the hanger went out for whatever reason(the toilet facilities were unusable) The H&HS squadron admin guys had made a call out in town had over 30 " Johnny on the spot's" delieverd, outside the hanger all in a single column. I went outside about an hour and change after they made the announcement they had made Restroom "Arrangements" outside for the guests. It was one of the funnier and most vivid sites I had in the Corps, standing at a minimum 5 deep at each John were Marines of various ranks all waiting to get into the little plastic toilets in their Dress Blues. The funniest was they were all singing and carrying on like it was another day at the office, gotta luv it, wish I had taken pictures it was hilarious. 

I didnt get drunk enough  to get sick, but I imagine their had to be a few, and going head first in dress blues into one of those little toilets..... makes me cringe.
