Posted: 28 Jun 08 8:27 PM  Just wondering if you guys approve of them. I've been tossing around the idea of writing about another FIST (22, "Double Deuces" seems to ring well). Just a short story likely. Haven't found an interesting plot outside of a small firefight during a peacekeeping mission. Mainly I like character development. Probably stems from all those roleplaying games I play. Probably the 8 million attempts at fanfics and original short stories stem from that. But my last WIP was a Twilight:2000 fanfic. It was a RPG done up by GDW based in a conventional small tactical nuclear use WWIII and the original had the players escaping the failed attack of the 5th US ID (Mech) and the last major offensive of the Twilight War. At that point everything was so jacked up that you could go anywhere and run into bandits, loyal Soviets/Pact, Free Cities (like Krakow IIRC), or try and find a way back to the US. Fun setting I like conventional war WWIII settings. I was going to do this as a backdrop for the characters and their actions during the offensive and then kinda turn it into a reader based thing with polls on tactical actions taken by the characters. Kinda like a narrated Tactical Decision Game like Col. Antal has been writing. The guy who runs that site has been writing two interesting stories. One is a Fallout-styled story about a Gunny unfreezing in a Falloutesque future (and he even ran a by-post RPG related to it) and another about a sci-fi Roman military. I like the latter a lot. He's trying to get the latter in manuscript, and hopefully maybe get a publisher. Anyways he's got a nice community, former Marine himself and he was kind to let me put my story up there in parts and even host the TDG portion there if I want.
