Dan and david question on skinks.
Posted: 11 Jan 08 11:58 PM
I was just wondering how large was the skink force that hit kingdom. second the information form david's website said that the force recon team report listed a corps size skink force on world . I was wondering is the fighting on haulover going to like kingdom or is the task force going to have to do a ampibous assualt like what happened in book three.

Dear Sir, you'll have to wait until the book comes out, but ask yourself how you'd do it.

Dan I just wanted a hint or is recoil going to provide with enough information to allow to at least estimate if the anti skink task force is going to have to fight it way onto the planet. Dan, just how far is earth from haulover because the skink force size is going to get the larger the longer the message had to travel.

Looey:

Haulover is way, way out there, on the fringe of Human Space, light years from Earth.  We generally don't get into precise calculations of distances because that is not really germane to the stories.  All we need to do to get the effect we want is say it takes a while to get places even at faster-that-light travel.  Neither do we go into detail on the FTL drives since nobody really knows how that would work, or even if it's possible.  Just think of England and America separated by the Atlantic Ocean in the 1700s.  That's the comparison we're aiming for.
