First to Fight: from Audible.com
Posted: 13 May 08 2:28 AM

Just the other day I found that SF1 First to Fight was available from Audible.com as an audio book, and being that I had some credits with Audible decided to get it.  I must say that it was interesting.  The narrator was good, and after adjusting to the medium I rather enjoyed it, but then I noticed that they seemed to have left out a number of things.  I finally worked out that the script for the audio was kind of a Reader's Digest version.  Time spent on Arsenault was very short; nothing about Dean initially going to join the Army then changing his mind at the last minute; McNeil's resisting the Siad interrogation and being killed by way of showing respect rather than being tortured; and so on.

Has anyone else listened to any Starfist books in audio format?

No I have not M.C. but I would like to ask you a question. Since you run this site let me ask you: There should be a rule that states: "If you join StarFist Hq, please discuss in the discussions once a month" or something similar to that. Heck, look at Bushman he has not posted anything

Skink...a forumite does not have to post...I know some who read the posts every day but refrains from "chiming in" on the subjects due to a lack of knowledge of the books. Even though they have read some, many do not have the time to read all of them. Like my friend Derrick...he comes in here all the time and reads the new posts...we talk about them on msn messenger at night when I am at work...a rule like that is pretty petty for any forum.

The first ten Starfist books were released as abridged audiobooks, available on cassette tape and, more recently, from Audible. Even though they sold fairly well, we have not been able to discover why Random House decided not to continue making the audiobooks. The abridged scripts ran about 20,000 words, compared to the 113,000-120,000 words of the print books.

Skinkie, your heart is always in the right place but what you advocate is like telling someone if they read the newspaper then they're obligated to write a letter to the editor on a regular basis.  The important thing is, READ THE PAPER.
