Do the Confed Marines follow CARS
Posted: 14 Aug 08 10:27 PM

One thing that I have wanted to know since I started the series, is the 34th infantry Battalion have a parent Regement like US army and Marine units.  The reason I ask a MEU(SOC) takes several different units and combines them temporarily for a deployment.  A fist seems to be based on this structure but the units seemed to be wed to the 34th and don't go from one FIST to another.  At least the Infantry battalion doesn't.  But the companys in the infantry battalion are K,L,M (going from memory).  Where are ABCDEFGHIJ?  Are the companys designated by Division or Fleet?  Or does the 34th have a parent Regement.  This is really bugging me!

Yeah I read that but it still doesn't answer my question.  What is bigger then the FIST?  Divisions?  Fleet?  What is next up the line.

I've gotten all the Starfist's and Force Recon's under my belt.  I'm looking forward to the new ones

Hmmmm. Well let's see each battalion has a company. So I beleive a Fist is a Battalion. Then you have diffrent groups for diffrent regions of space, those are groups I beleive. Honestly I really dont know.

E Mail David, it has his email address at his website. Or ask some other members. Geez this is one tough question.

So I take it you don't come here often cause of your schedule? Well you will all see less of me since I will begin college next week.

Well yeah they do copy the MEU/MEB David has said that much. But you gotta think that space is a MUCH bigger place than the Earth so obviously having these things spread out all over known space. I would say its almost safe to assume that Marine Regiments and such don't exist. The Confed Marines are truly a force in readiness being organized into the FIST which in my mind always gives them the capability to get on Essays and get loaded on a ship and be anywhere in a reasonable amount of time with all the organic support they need. Possibly and seeing from how the other FISTs are I assume that each FIST's Infantry Battalion has a different set of lettered companies. Hence K/34 FIST. or B/23 FIST something like that I suppose.

EDIT: Higher Command wise I would assume like in modern times they have their equivalent of a MARFORPAC/MARFORATL a ranking general of one sort or another controlling an area of FISTs. As we can see from the books they can pull a general from anywhere and put them in command of a group of FISTs. I have no idea what you'd call that though. I would want to say a division but its pretty damn light. Task Force sounds better and you can always name it after the commander and it can be of any size like a Wehrmacht Kampfgruppe.

I wonder when we'll see Task Force Sturgeon commanded by a Maj Gen Sturgeon? :P
