practical jokes
Posted: 25 Oct 06 7:44 PM

How Come there are never any pratical jokes being pulled when the guys are back in the barrack?  Almost every  Jarhead, Squid, Flyboy, or Grunt I have ever talk to has at least a handful of stories about joke being pulled in garrison.  those are good harmless (for the most part) laughs to blow of steam.  I haven't seen the guy fresh from boot sent for anything stupid like:

a box of grid squares.   spool of flight line.   blinker fluid.   squelch oil.  bateries for the prick E-7.  chemlihgt battiers.     B.A. 1100 N. (balloon)

Tango Romeo double Eco (tree)   metric cresent wrench.  left handed ax.    can of dehydrated H2O.

none of that stuff.

Army:  Darn good point!  I don't think either of us have thought of including some of those pranks, probably because we're concentrating too hard on the serious stuff.  But barracks pranks were a way of life in the Old Army:  Short-sheeting beds, moving a guy's bed and locker to another spot, lacing his boots up backwards and on and on like that.  After I made E5 at Ft. Bragg I moved into a cadre room, big step up in the world.  But one weekend someone put a padlock on my door -- while I was still in the room! I was NOT about to ask for help.  Eventually I pried the hinges off the door and got out that way and never mentioned the incident to anyone.  Been hell to pay though if thered been a fire!
