No, they knocked them out because otherwise they'd all have been squashed like bugs and the series would've ended, or we'd have had to change the venue to the supernatural.

I take a business trip to the great state of Texas, and look what I come back to.  PARTY IN THE CLAYPOOLE FANCLUB!!  Excellent!  Danners has already threatened to have Claypoole wacked by friendly fire if I didn't pipe down about making him FIST Commander in book 20.  But now that the popular vote is in, well, this changes everything.
