He was not the only character to show fear...Claypoole showed fear and then immense anger when his favorite bar girl got jacked in his armes by a sniper. I believe he became aware of his own mortality right then. Kerr also showed his fear as well. Even though he tried to hide it the other marines could smell it, kinda like a dog can sense or "smell" the fear on a man, but out of respect for their brother they said nothing but watched his actions.

That is true. He is the only Marine that shows his fears. But, he is able to take control of them, similar to Kerr. He will never be the Marine Kerr is but he will become a good leader.

I think, reasonably, everyone shows fear, its just to what extent they let it control them and how they react.

That is very true, even David and I get panicked, experience mind-numbing terror, when we think our books won't sell.
