Regarding Monkeyking’s posts, it seems that the chameleons are far from perfect, there’s ways and means to see a man in chamelons, and I suspect that movements are easier to see like hand-gestures. I think when the characters roll down the sleeves, it’s probably just that little easier to see than waving your hand until someone notices.

The helmet face-shield from as described above comes down over the face, in a manner like the visor of a flight helmet then?

Can the marines make other camouflaged stuff, like say scrim netting or a balaclava if they felt so inclined rather than a helmet? I know there's the hats from Book 1, and the uniforms themselves. And of course the weapons and helmets.
