Why not grenades that have proximity devices on them, so they don't explode say, within ten meters LOS of friendly forces?

Teufel:  Er, I dunno.  What if they're tossed in heavy undergrowth and nobody comes by to detonate them?  Not only could friendly troops set them off by mistake when infiltrating that area, but what if one bright day six months later young Mickey Bob is out strolling with his Petunia and -- blaaaaaaaam! -- look, Ma, we'll never have any kids!
