Whom would you pick?

Curious to see how people (including the authors) will answer the following question.

Assume that the Starfist series was to be made into a TV series or movie, whom would you pick to play each major character (those of 3rd Platoon Lima Company, Company headquarters staff, FIST staff, etc)?  If you would pick different actors depending on the medium chosen, then list both choices and specify for which medium.

My answer to this question will be coming along shortly.  Just have to choose the actors.

Just as long as John Malkovich isn't Cazombi, I'd be ok with almost anyone taking roles. It's hard to imagine R. Lee Ermie not taking part in a project like that.

It would really take some time to really gather up a decent list of acters to take on those roles, since the characters are already more or less perfectly written.

Besides, with the way Hollywood is using bad actors these days, I don't think anyone would want anyone but the best people for the best series I've yet read.

Shadow:  This is really an interesting question and one we have thought about ourselves from time to time.  I agree with Panzer, that John Malkovitch wouldn't quite fit as Alistair Cazombi!  But...as to that particular character, there is something about him we have not revealed yet so let's hold off picking an actor for his part.  I think if we were casting we'd pick young, relatively unknown actors for most of the Marine parts.  That would work for both the big screen and the little one, I believe.  The one character, my favorite in many ways, that stumps me is Chang-Sturdevant.  There aren't that many Amerasian actresses in the business who have the age and maturity she does; we need someone with some gray in her hair and is convincing protraying a woman with the easy confidence of experience at the top of government.

Another character I'd have a hard time mulling over would be Captain Conorado. He and Schultz are my two favorite 'human' characters.

 

And I think everyone will agree with me, no way in this green/blue orb would anyone allow either Christian Bale or that other acting asshat who played young Darth Vader to even LOOK at the script.

Actually  my pick for Schultz would be Vin Diesel. For some reason I just picture him for Hammer. For Ted Sturgeon, I'd like Jason Isaacs, always liked him as an actor. Yes, R. Lee Ermey for the First Sergeant, Captain Coronado - Jeffrey Wright, Charlie Bass - Adam Baldwin and the rest of the cast to be new younger actors. Because face it, most troops at between 17 and 22.
