Army Vs Navy Vs Marines
Posted: 14 Sep 07 2:45 PM
I notice in the Starfist series that there is tension between the Army, Navy and Marines.

Since I notice Claypoole and a couple other marines complaining about the Navy after cleaning their ship. Its like they don't trust each other at all or some resentment going on. I dunno.

Why is there tension between the military forces? Does this still happen in todays military?

Even the General Billie hates the marines and I assume he prefers the army more than ever.

Howdy! I'm with the County Health Inspector ... okay there goes your "A" rating - Nick Kang

Its all a thing of respect, they all think they're the best at what they do. Some think Marines are over trained thugs with guns. I believe the two biggest rivalries are between the Marines and the Army, and between the Navy pilots and the Air Force pilots.

Admiral:  Don't forget, for every Billie there's a Cazombi. When you get highly training, highly motivated teams working together a big morale factor is friendly competition, but when things get rough everyone works together like a well-oiled machine.

Case in point....The rivalry between the Navy and Marines date way past 17th century. When me and some of my Navy buddies got into a fight with a bunch of Marines we tore the bar up pretty good. Then a big bunch of Army ground pounders wanted to butt in where they didn't belong. The Navy and Marines banded together like Brothers and whipped some Army ass...no offense to our esteemed Author at all. Navy and Marines train together, fight each other at times, but when faced with an unmoveable object they work together like a "Well Oiled Machine"

The rivalry is real, and the Marines do have a reputation as undisciplined psychos. I've had many a vet look at me nervously upon learning that I had been a Leatherneck. As though they half expected me to attack them, or pull iron and start shooting innocent bystanders.

Be that as it may, everybody wants to be top dog. (Go ahead, Dan, you can bark now.)
