Just looking at my Halo books by Del Rey and noticed that even for such a recognizable and enormous franchize as that, the corver art leaves something to be desired. It's cartoonish and, if your geeky like myself, inaccurate. Then I compared that with "Halo: Contact Harvest's" cover, which is TOR, and the cover art is beautifuly detalied and works well for the actual contents of the book.
*shrug*
But, I do know what you're saying about their being an art to the sale. Give them what they need not what they want.
And those are the covers that made me pick up the books.
The next time you and David go into your publishers office, beg Him/Her to let "Big Dot Design" make your covers. They are done so beatiful they could hang in a art muesem next to the painting of George Washingtion's crossing of the Deleware River. Please, these are the only Cover Art of StarFist that I like.
What does the CMC logo look like?????
What does Dave think of a Skink invasion of Earth?
Have you and Dan won the Hugo award, and has StarFist ever been a N.Y. Times Bestseller?
Is there a lot of input to advertise your books, because I found it while going through the book store one day, not through a newspaper.
We agree with you on the cover art. But no Hugo, no NYT Bestseller List ffor Starfist either, although JEDI TRIAL made the list for a week or two. But hell, with that StarWars stuff fans would buy Darth Vader's toilet paper if someone stuck it between covers.
