I'll be the first...

Let me start off in this new forum...
My name is Mike Clark and I live in Olympia, Washington. I started reading the Starfist series maybe four years ago and really enjoyed the enlisted man point of view the books portray. I think one reason I was attracted to Starfist was my own military service. Of course, not all Starfist readers will have had a military career, but I served in the United States Army for eight years, as an infantry mortar crewman (11C), field artillery fire support specialist (13F) and finally as a signal corps tactical microwave communications equipment repairer (26L). Received an honorable discharge as a sergeant (E-5). My permanent stations were at Fort Lewis, Washington (C Co, 2/39 INF & B Bty 1/11 FA) and Ulm, Germany (Central Region Signal Group, CIP-67, AFCENT). These days, and since 1987, I am a computer programmer for the Washington state government.

My name is Russell Carlson; I am 17, and I live in Va. Beach. Well, I havent served in the miltary, but I do like these books. I just picked up a new copy of FlashFire today when it final got to Barnes and Noble. I may be young, but I can tell you this is some of the best reading material I have in my collection.

Russell: Thanks very much for the kind words about our books. Both David and I have extensive military experience in both peace and war and life in general and we try to integrate that experience into these stories. We write for everyone in general but for young guys like you in particular, the generation that might actually see military service. We want these books to be a good read from a literary standpoint but also we want them to reflect real life. We would both be delighted to hear more from you.
Dan
