Now, there's a term I haven't heard before... "Fobbit." Will one of you gentlemen please enlighten this humble megalomaniac/scifi enthusiast/S.S.S.O.B.?

Okay Mr. 19K (Tanker MOS) since R.E.M.F. didn't come up I thonk you know that one. Since the war we fight now is against insurgents, we have no in the rear with the gear so to speak. Every base in Iraq or afganistan is calld a F.O.B. (Forward Operating Base). the echalons above reality that came up with this are probally the same ones that came up with saluting officers in the F.O.B. A Fobbit is the R.E.M.F. That Dwells in the F.O.B. never to leave the saftey of its peremiter. I spent 11 month in a 14 month deployment in Iraq and went outside the F.O.B. once for weapons training. That means I went with my S.A.W. and had other people fire so thet could have fun and I could clean it.

Just in Case, S.A.W.

that can lead to another discussion on that

Squad Automatic Weapon is very impressive!  Liked it in "Ghost Recon."  Never seen/heard fired live.  Seems like one can do a lot of damage against many with it (at least in Ghost Recon it did).

puts out the same volume of fire as 20 M16A2.  Lighter than the old M60 and uses the same round as the M16.  The kicker is the cyclic rate of fire is 750 RPM.  They give you 200 round drums.  you can split that into 2 100 round asaualt packs.  Basic load for an Automatic Riflemen is 600 rounds.  When you use it in the light machine gun role it gets bumped to 1000.  the weapon wieghs 17 pounds + 7 pounds for spare barrlel bag + 7 pounds per 200 round drum + 4 pounds for the starlight scope (not including the hard plastic case.  by the time you add a 30 pound body armor vest w/ plates and all your web gear it adds up to a lot just under 100lbs o' crap.  That is with out your rucksack.  Never really added it up before guess that is why the guys with the M16 always beat me up the hills.

My guess, with that kind of firepower, they'll wait for ya!

I would still rather have the M60 or its replacement the M240  bigger round and longer range
