Posted: 02 Jun 07 4:49 AM Well, depends.  If you come in with a college degree you can apply for a direct comission.  Otherwise there's always OCS or the Military Academy pre-commissioning course.  There are some fields, helicopter pilot, CID, where you can work your way up via a warrant.  That was my day, over 25 years ago, so things may have changed, but let me tell you, looking at some of the army's junior officers these days, I don't think it must take very much to become a second lieutenant.
