for every defence comes a new attack to over come it...Nam saw the use of tank or mortar shells even looted Claymores turned to land mine use...im sure they did it in WW2 too...now i've seen the larger trucks that are going to replace the Hummer, asn yess they will help save lives, but it will cripple the unit till someone can extract the crew and tow or scuttle the truck...and its gonna hurt like hell geting thrown around like that...Armor can only be soo thick, and the tricks like Ablative armor can only go so far also...land mines in their very nature puts the warhead directly in contact with the vehicle...the whole energy of the blast is transmitted through the chassis...the depleted uranium armor on the Abrams is tough but its not placed under the chassis so yeah, its not gonna be good if a M1 hits that big of a land mind...they have to concentrat on countering the mines ignition source not throw something bigger and more up-armored at the problem...they are radio controled mines right, some kinda signal need to activate the mine...but if we can induce the signal or squash the signal and Jam the whole block when they patrol...now that won't help IR directed mines...maybe some kinda Chaff/smoke grenade/generator something to mess with the signal/transmission...then they will have to show their faces if they want to fire an RPG...the marines can clean their clocks...gonna maybe need a new generation of bots to run out as out riders for the column, they can mess with anything odd looking before the troops get on station...hmm

I remember watching on TV that the US is constructing a new device to neutralize IED. This new device uses some type of heat to burn the C4 away without causing an explosion. I can't remember the name of the device

i guess its a flame thrower...C4, or Plastic explosives need a sharp electrical charge to explode, if you light it with a flame it will just burn...i know that troops in Nam burned C4 since everything else was wet, they could cook a meal with it, or just space out looking at the dancing flames...apperantly it was almost hypnotic, the way the flame moved...

I dont think its a flame thrower. I know they ban the use of flame thrower in wars now because its cruel way to kill.

It look like a circular tube and this device is portable and disposible. You place this tube on top of the explosive and the heat will completely burn the components of the charge away.

ok, its a blow torch...not a microwave gun, that could cause a short and that would go boom...figure a canister of propelent and maybe compressed air, to help over charge the flame with air...its a heat gun...disposible...it would metal teh delicate chips of a cell device or transmiter or just plain melt the transmission crystal...and burn away the plastic explosives...hmm, its like holding on to a rocket engine i guess...and um, isnt killing with a rifle or bayonet cruel in its own way...i swear those geneva convention fools just dont have a clue...
