Happy 232nd Marines!
Posted: 09 Nov 07 10:55 PM
Yup its November 10th here in Japan and we all know what that means.

Long time no see Starfist HQ goers. If you even remember me I'm Barcelonablom, the last time you heard from me I was a Lance Corporal and going through school to become an Airframes Mechanic on the Hornet.

Well I tried coming back to this site often and could never figure out why it wouldn't let me post, I guess Firefox can't handle the RTE oh well.

Fast forward a year and a half and I'm now a Corporal with VMFA-314. We're on UDP to Iwakuni, Japan and I'm here enjoying myself greatly. Looking forward to get caught up and finally finish "The Forgotten Soldier" so I can start Starfist: Flashfire and Recon #2 and get caught up to current events.

Hope everything is going well for Dan and David and I hope to hear from them as well. I got lots to share in off-topic areas as well since I've begun WWII re-enacting being in California.

Semper Fidelis!

B-blom!  Forgotten you?  Hell, no!  We've all been tied up in knots of anguish, worried that something had happened to you!  Reading Guy Sajer's THE FORGOTTEN SOLDIER, are you?  Opinion's been divided on whether he really served in the Grossdeutschland Division but some vets of the division do say they remember him.  Another book you might like even more is Stephen Fritz's FRONTSOLDATEN.

Anyway, welcome back into the fold.

Read it a loooooooong time ago. Yeah it can be a disputable book but it still provides great insight into a combat soldier's mind, true or not. At least its more true then Sven Hassel's books.. but then again those are allways good action-adventure reads....

Bah anguish... fur mich? Nein!
