Web Development
Posted: 22 Apr 06 7:25 PM

I'm a web developer, and as being a fan of the series, I gladly offer any of my knowledge to the developer of this site. If you need anything, just look me up. I've done work in PHP and got some programming under my belt. Web based script is mostely he extent of my knowledge. I've worked with PHP Nuke, and HTML is a breeze for me. I could write up an entire site in under hours. I also have some basic Flash, and exensive Photoshop knowledge. If you need imaging done, I'll hop right on it. I've also designed some of my own templates. CSS is rough for me, but I can do it.

If you need anyhing....just ask.

Thanks for the offer, SouthWind!  This site is running on DotNetNuke (v3.2.1 currently), which you may know is an ASP.NET application.  It uses Sql Server as the database.  I know what PHP is, but have never worked with it, being primarily a Microsoft technology guy.  This site does use plain HTML in some places, but does it through DotNetNuke-compliant web server components.

Programming is what I do for a living -- I'm a senior developer (both web and desktop apps) for the State of Washington.  I can see where your Photoshop skills might come in handy on this site.  The "skin" for Starfist HQ is just one of the standard default skins supplied with DNN, and the logo was something I threw together using PaintShop Pro (actually, I scanned a Starfist book cover and used the word "Starfist" from it).  At some point we probably want to dress up the site a little more, and I think you could help out.

Anyway, welcome aboard!

Never used DotNet, but I know it's ASP. Does it use MySQL and Apache servers? If you need anything, just give me an assignment and I'll be on it and do it. Going to go play in photoshop here in a second, try to come up with you a better banner using some of the cover art.

Ok here's one I did tonight... And here's a simpler version.. I didn't know how intricate to make them because I do not know when you plan on spicing up the site and didn't want to do too much without a color scheme. However, on the first one, I turned the opacity down on the Marine to give him a chameleoned (SP?) affect. Just to give you some ideas of wha I can do.
