Splitting the characters up by book sounds good.  I'll take Book 2.  What all are we incuding in the character list?  Character history (if there is any)?  Battles/locations character is seen in?  That type of thing or just character name, book and rank (if applicable)?

I see a possible problem with splitting characters up by book.  Namely because quite a number of characters are definitely multi-book.  In the usual wiki format, there would be individual articles for each individual character, while the book articles talked about the books and referenced the characters and the characters' bios.  If we start orienting character articles by book there will be twelve different articles on Gunny Bass, for example.

I may have misunderstood this, though...

Mike:
That is true.  But so many characters have a lot of back history that the reader needs to know from what book what happened so he/she can maybe research on their own or just read a quick synopsis to play catch up.  A quick example is Corp Doyle.  In Book 11 some people can't stand him, so we want to know why.  Well, Book 1 he pisses off Dean & Chan on the ride to Thorsfinni's World but gains Bass's respect in the Waste.  Book 5 gets Top wanting to court marshal him but Cazombi loves him.  Doyle also does well in the Kingdom Affair (Books 8 & 9).  Now he is not Dean or Bass who REALLY have big parts.  So, how do we set it up?  Me, for right now with Book 1, I'm just doing pen & paper.  Don't know if Word or Excel will be easier.  I'm guessing Word.  Shadow seems quite knowledeable with this.  Hopefully, with Midterms over, she will put her brain power on it.  I'm just a grunt...leave the techno questions to you specialists =).  Who thought of this crazy idea anyway?
Ha...that comment reminds me of a scene from Patton.  Goes something like this: Gen Omar Bradley is in a fox hole w/ a pvt & is getting shelled.  The pvt (who doesn't know the General is the General) says "Who's leading this stupid operation?"  Bradley responds, "I don't know, but they should should hang him!"  BTW...I think Patton is one of the greatest war movies ever (and the longest).  Love that movie!

"Now I want you to remember that no bastard ever won a war by dying for his country. He won it by making the other poor dumb bastard die for his country."

Listing details of each character would be beneficial to those who might want a refresher on the older books but who may not have yet read the later ones - so they can stop when they reach that portion of the character's bio'.

Ok Doc, you're drafted!  Which book would you like to do?

Hey Shadow, are you going to add more to Book 2?  I will get off my duff & tweak Book 1 this weekend.

We really have to get the newbies who are just reading the books to chime in b/c they have the freshest opinions.
