It is very funny when you find a ship named for one of your family members even if it is a fictional ship.
He was a decorated veteran of the U.S. Army, with a Silver Star Medal, a Purple Heart, five Combat medals, and the Good Conduct Medal. He also served overseas and participated in the European invasion of World War II. He was murdered in Hickory, NC in 2004
Paul Fullbright
Fulbright Family Historian
PF: Very sad to learn about Mr. Fulbright's death, a terrible end for a man who served his country with so much valor and dedication. David's the one who came up with the name for the starship. We often name things and places and sometimes even characters after people we know and like, or people whom we admire. We never name the bad guys after anyone. Well, one possible exception but he deserved it and to his credit he knew that he did and took it rather well. And he wasn't really a bad guy, just an obnoxious snob who dissed us.
One sad note, after we created Jason Billie (I came up with Jason and David with Billie) we found to our horror there is a REAL Jason Billie and he reads SF!
I look forward to it.
