Got to Chapter 23 and I have to say, one of the most exciting Starfists yet! I dunno if you meant it but I'm seeing nods to Bataan, Corregidor, The American Civil War, the Pusan Perimeter, and even Inchon, with the battles occurring in the book.

B-blom, you bet we meant it! Nothing new under the sun. That's because it's just human nature to repeat everything at least once.

We frequently start out with something from real history. And if you like Flashfire, wait 'til you read Firestorm!

Yeah I've noticed that a lot in your books, another reason to like. I did finish Flashfire and was upset it abruptly died, but at least I'm set up to read Force Recon 2...
But I like what I'm reading and ironically enough I'm reading General Krulak's First to Fight, interesting to know about how much the Corps was ignored and was threatened death or merging at the hands of select politicians/military commanders. So its an interesting book to be reading after Flashfire.
Firestorm is on my to get list as well....

I found Krulak's book (LtGen Victor "Brute" Krulak, WWII Paramarine, one time top Pentigon expert on counter-insurgency warfare, 1960s CG Fleet Marine Force Pacific--not Junior Krulak who became Commandant) a rather curious book; an odd mixture of history of the Marine Corps and personal memoir. Lots of good stuff in it. As for the disbandment of the Marine Corps, there have been numerous attempts going all the way back to George Washington. I don't think there's a major attempt in the works now to disband the Marines--or merge them into the army--but there was one in the 1990s.
