Thanks David for the advice. I found a few old WW2 books that my grandpa owned and I have decided to base the invasion off of the battle of the buldge. Are there any cities near New Olso where civies can be evacuated to. New Olso will have to be held on by the 34th FIST and wait for re enforcements to arrive.

Skink:  Do your own research.  If we haven't mentioned any cities near New Oslo, make one up yourself.  Get a map of Norway, grab a little town somewhere and name your place after that or take a couple of names off the map and put them together.  The same works with characters who come from a certain ethnic background.  You want an African or a Norwegian name?  Take out a map or open an encyclopedia.

did you know, that during the battle of the bulge, some german SS panther units had infra-red scopes that allowed the tanks to operate at night...they were hell effective at their jobs but too few to really change the tide of battle...they were later taken out by fighters in the day time...
Belief is the hardest thing to fight...

I can't imagine anybody being dumb enough to develop mechas in real life. You want your armor low to the ground so it can't be knocked over, and presents a hard to hit target. Not to mention sloped sides where incoming fire can glance off. Mechas are real easy targets, and have too many areas where an incoming round can just burrow in and blow it to hell.
Besides low surviability, a 50 ton clunking machine running at 30 kph doesnt have much stealth ability and the maintenance would just make the whole affair impractical. Personally, I like the idea of the human sized robot warrior. Kind of like what is being developed now only with more agility. Attatch a SAW to it, slave it remotely to a fireteam in cover and let them send it into the next building alone to clear.

We had no such machines in JEDI TRIAL, ours were low-profile, maneuverable and deadly, not the usual junk you see in the StarWars melees.  At one point in a battle Anakin gets his cloak caught in a tread and his life is saved by a clone trooper who cuts him loose.  In the original manuscript he says, "Whew, a Jedi without a cloak.  I feel almost naked!" and the editor cut it out.
