Interstellar Patrol by Chris Anvil
Posted: 26 Feb 08 4:34 PM

Why read this book?  It is just fun in an old-tyme space opera way.   This is classic bare-knuckles science fiction with "pointy finned rockets" and "cigar smoking heros", so in other words ist is Pure Plup.  If you enjoyed E.E. Doc Smith's Lensmen series, then you could to enjoy this, but there is alos some Edgar Rice Burroghs feel to it as well. . If you are not sure pick it up anyway…it is just fun. Christopher Anvil is an author people should not have forgotten, and you can give him some life if you read these classic stories.

It looks like a 1950s book because it is made of 1950s stories collected together.  It is actully sort of humorous ratrher then lame because of that.  Chris Anvil had a rye wit with the stories so they translate well to modern readers.
