What a General. He told Hitler to expect the allies to land on a place he least expected it. "Stop them at the beaches" That's what Rommel told them. Hell, he even told them to move the German tanks right on the beaches. But his fellow commanders told him it was a waste of time and it would be much better if the tanks encircled the enemey Vis A Vis Traditional warfare. Rommel was right. If the tanks were on the beaches, then two things would have happened.

1. D-Day would have failed

2. D-day would have seen much heavier casulties.

Hey, since we are talking about the Germans, may I ask a question. In "School of Fire" you and David mentioned that the Germans tried to conquer the world in the 21st Cen. Will that ever happen.

We wrote that?  I don't remember it at all and frankly I don't think we'll ever see Germany attempt foreign conquest again.  The conditions that would make that possible just aren't there any more.  If they want to be the major power in Europe they could do that through economics instead of military conquest.

And Gernades, don't forget the Gernades. I think we are seeing a change in warfare. It is no longer armies aganist armies. Instead it is Armies aganist Terror Cells.

Gernades? Do you mean grenades? They've been around in one form or another since ancient times.

True.

See what I mean about Skink's one-worders?
