The Corps by W. E. B. Griffin
Posted: 11 Jun 08 2:12 PM

I was heading out of used book store yesterday, walked by the fiction shelf and this title jumped out at me ( yea I know I was in the Marine Corps, didnt read that many books about it, hell I was living it) looked interesting-ish, anyone read this series?

I have collected about 15 or so Military Historical fiction and non fiction over the past few months as build my sci-fi collection, wondering if I should pick these up and put on list?

Thanks,

Trang

Trang, Griffin's novels about Marines are just about the only books of his that I read. He was a doggie himself, but on this series at least he must have had a Marine vet it for him, because he only made a couple of minor mistakes in the first book. My continuing beefs with him are: 1) his important characters are almost all from wealth and privilege, and 2) enlisted men are, well, snuffies--unless they're smart enough and good enough to get commissioned, in which case they become complete human beings.

Most people who enlist come from working class or poor class. Look at my dad, he came from a poor family and served with the navy. The Corps huh? Never heard of it. I'll look for it.
