I saw _Flags of Our Fathers_ today. I knew going in it didn't have a linear narrative, so the jumbled timeline didn't bother me in the least. I noticed very few historical glitches, all very minor. But I'll tell you, I never climbed a wet-net in seas as calm as the one in the training scene. If you haven't seen the movie yet, do so soon.

MacArthur. Having been a member of the 4th Marines, I'm not too fond of the guy. The 4th Marines is the only Marine unit to ever lose its colors. Well, not really. MacArthur surrendered them when he ran away and ordered the defenders of Corregador to surrender. Now don't nobody go correcting me with historical facts, this is an emotional issue. Incidentally, the taking of Peileilu was MacArthur's idea. Then he decided he didn't need the island after the Marines took it for him.
