I just read The Forever War on your recommendation, barcelonablom. Thanks for recommending it. I enjoyed it greatly and finished it in just over 1 day. Interesting to see what he thought the time period might be like now (especially because I live about 20 minutes from Columbia, MD).

Ah no problem... I like his somewhat hard sci-fi spin on the book (as with the space combat and their conduct on cold planets as well as relativity) but also its somewhat anti-war message (suspicion that the whole thing was a mistake in the first place) as well as his Vietnam experiences built into it. (The end battle was supposed to be a time when he was at a fire base which was under constant barrage... I remember reading something about it in the board game version of The Forever War my dad has... Mr. Haldeman makes some comments about where his real life experiences tie in with the book.)
Watch out for his newer writings, they are good but are strange as heck... With those its a like or don't like type of thing...
Dudette, I thought the Ringo series was awesome. Loved the characters & plot. The aliens were interesting & sub plots solid. The Forever War huh? I'll have to look into it. I'll post my Loves list soon. Right now my 'reading till new Starfist/Force Recon' is the Honor series. Very good stuff but I expect nothing less from Weber. I dig a strong female character and a good space battle (which I can't get enough of from Dan & David). Still think Heinlein's Starship Troopers & Hubbard's Battle Field Earth are in the top ten.Anyone read any of the Bolo Series? I dug it back in the 90's but really lost interest lately (ie decade).
