Ender's Game
Posted: 24 Apr 06 1:27 AM

Alright, while reading the recommendations in here, I thought of another one I'd put out there for yall. The books name is Ender's Game, by Orson Scott Card. I can't believe I forgot this one because I loved it dearly, and wish I had brought it out of my stash of books when I moved from Texas. Right now it's gathering dust in one of my three storage bins of books at my grandmother's house. But enough of that and onto the book.

The series is well evolved but I stopped after the first three books I believe. The book is about aliens who attack Earth, and the human race is almost extinct, and the Military takes to "breeding" Military geniuses. That's about all I can say myself without spoiling any of it.

I'm apologize, I do not have a book list or a website for this one, and wish I could explain it in detailed. But I STRONGLY recommend this one to any sci/fi lover.

But could you believe that book evolved from a short story.

There have been other novels that have done the same.  2001: A Space Oddyssey and Enemy Mine, for example.  Both became films.

I liked Enders Game, but in the end I just find it too unrealistic and an ass-kissing book to kids.  I wish someone would write the anti-enders game. That is to say, where a society that pins its last hopes on finding a military genius child gets utterly obliterated by a society that just has a normal volunteer army. At the end of the book the 57 year old general simply beats the stuffing tactically out of the other side's "wunderkin".
