Yeah, Griffin really goofed on that DSC. He's made a few other oops as well. But in general he's so close that I've suspected from the beginning that he had a Marine vetting the books for him.

Just finished Semper Mars, HIGHLY RECCOMEND IT! and first thing that comes to mind is "Oooh Rah, Semper Fi!!!", I loved the passage at the end, the added verse to the Marine Corps Hym:

"From the Blue-white vistas over Earth,
to the ocher sands of Mars,

We are in the vanguard of Man's Rise,
from the Earth out to the Stars,

As humanity spreads to other worlds,
an learns what our Heritage Means,

We will Proudly bear the Banner,
of the UNITED STATES MARINES!"

Excerpt, Epilogue,Semper Mars, Ian Douglas,1998.

On to book two and the moon. An yes Ian Douglas is a pseudonym "William H. Keith, Jr  also writes under various pseudonyms and "house names", including Ian Douglas and H. Jay Riker, and is a shadow author of several books "by" celebrities." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_H._Keith%2C_Jr , Wikipedia.

7 books so far in this series:

  • Heritage Trilogy: (writing as Ian Douglas)
    • Semper Mars (1998)
    • Luna Marine (1998)
    • Europa Strike (2000)
  • Legacy Trilogy: (writing as Ian Douglas)
    • Star Corps (2003)
    • Battlespace (2006)
    • Star Marines (2007)
  • Inheritance Trilogy (writing as Ian Douglas)
    • Star Strike (2008)

I also looked into his Hard/techo Sci-fi Series "Warstrider", looked interesting, so picked up 5 of the 6, getting the First book off amazon, found others in used books stores.

  • Warstrider series:
    • Warstrider (1993)
    • Rebellion (1993)
    • Jackers (1994)
    • Symbionts (1995)
    • Netlink (1995)
    • Battlemind (1996)

This is no way affects my luv for Starfist, just another excellent series that is filling gaps until next wave of Starfist comes out.

Wikipedia Sites for Starfist, Dave and Dan, just throwing in for GP.

Is the writing style anything like "StarFist"? Because that is all I've been reading since September.
