HALO and more
Posted: 07 Dec 06 12:06 PM Modified By Tolt on 12/7/2006 9:32:30 PM)
Do the Force Recon have need of the HALO insertion method?

How do the different kinds of chamealons work in the fog?

Is FR ever sent in on small ops? (one FIST or smaller)

what is the difference between FR and the FIST's recon?

Is there anything better than beer?

Does FR train guerrillas to go against planetary governments?

Well, hello, HALO!

David will answer your questions in detail but until then, No, the only thing better than beer is more of the same.  Now some of the people on this site will argue heatedly for other forms of libation and I am not saying it's wrong to do that, but when all's said and done we all come back to good old beer, don't we?

In the Force Recon spinoff series, BACKSHOT, POINTBLANK, and the forthcoming RECOIL, you bet FR is sent on small-unit ops.  Check out BACKSHOT.  The difference between FR and FIST-organic recon is FR is strategic while recon is tactical.

We haven't yet written anything about training insurgents.  At least I don't remember writing anything like that.  In SCHOOL OF FIRE the Marines of the 34th FIST train the regular forces to fight against an insurgency.  But I think using FR in clandestine guerrilla operations, like Army Special Forces, is contrary to the mission of Marine Force Reconnaissance, the key word being "reconnaissance."

I don't believe we have used the HALO insertion method.  It'd be very hard on the Marines since usually they're inserted from orbit rather than from sub-orbital locations.  But you may have somethng here.  We'll see what David's response to this question is.

hey now, sometimes confirmation is needed.  at this point in my income bracket beer is a rare luxurery, so items like StarFist, women, and even sleep at times appear better than beer.

thank god they aren't though.

Children, children, (and occasional Commisar), calm down! There IS such a thing as something better then beer. I can supply instant proof whenever anyone asks. Untill then, I'll wait.
