Yeah, PJ, for you we all know what that is:  Lots of petroleum, oil, and lubricants!

I disagree.  I find a glass of Bartles & James winecooler neat is a fine thirst quencher.  Thank you for your support!

Do the Force Recon have need of the HALO insertion method?
How do the different kinds of chamealons work in the fog?

what is the difference between FR and the FIST's recon?
Is there anything better than beer?
Does FR train guerrillas to go against planetary governments?

HALO. Most Marines are too smart to jump out of a perfectly good airplane when it's off the ground, though I guess they could use their puddle jumpers if they had to exit their AstroGhost before landing.
Fog. Hmm. Depends on the density of the fog. If enough of the water suspended in the air condensed onto the chameleons, it could make them quasi-visible. Hasn't come up yet.
Missions. Deep reconnaissance; hunter-killer teams; comando-type raids (see both currently published books); deep sniper missions. FR normally doesn't work with other Marine units, but rather with the Confederation army (see the opening sequence of Backshot), or friendly planetary governments--somewhat similar to the ANGLICO companies that the USMC had until recently.
FIST recon is a section in the FIST HQ company and works exclusively for the FIST commander. Force Recon is a strategic military asset.
Beer. For imbibing, nothing, though the Philadelphia Wine Company (store in Philadelphia's Italian Market) has a white wine that tastes like "more," and I once had a single malt scotch that left me wishing I could drink it in beer-quantities. On a more absolute scale, sex.
Training guerrillas. They could if assigned, but that's not a primary mission. The Confederation is more likely to use conventional forces to overthrow a planetary government that has fallen into disfavor.
Next question?

One from me.

What, if any, method would the Confederation use to overthrow such a nation/planet? Something that has struck me since Steel Gauntlet is that, though unified in a planetary scale, nations, though not Nation States as such, still exist. What, besides destroying everything humanity holds dear, would happen if Germania became whole or Schultz is cloned? You've stated that the world simply would not allow that to happen, (unification, that is) but how would the CoW deal with it?
