We Canadians try our bests. Hmmm Third Platoon, Lima COmpany, Thrid and Fourth? Where have I seen all those numbers and positions together before?

Wow! Good catch!

One fun thing with the Starfist series is catching all the little in-jokes and self-references that turn up. I just recently re-read Hangfire, and this time picked up on a pair I had missed previously. It had to do with two Vietnam-era military fiction novels written long time ago by our dear Starfist authors. These two books were described as "classics" and were in the contents of the the bookreaders that Pasquin, Dean and Claypoole carried with them to Havanagas. Claypoole commented that he had read both books several times.

Oh, yes, the two books were "The Soldier's Prize", a stand-alone novel written by Dan Cragg, and "Knives in the Night," the first book of the 6-book "Night Fighter" series. I am proud to say that I own a copy of both novels, although I have not read them as many times as Claypoole has.

Yeah, i shouldn't get my feathers ruffled up about it. But, one question. Do you guys have the outlines for the next 10 books on Starfist ready?

We only outline one book at a time. We haven't outlined book 13 yet, but we do know basically what it's about.

Hey, DavidS,

Firestorm was awesome and I can't wait for Recoil.

I edited a book on speech recognition, a process which was really a heavily-expanded rewrite. I also read "Salmon of Doubt," about Doug Adams.

Having said that, I've got to say that you guys are THE MAN!!!

Please keep these series going, and uh, try to get some sleep now and then. Otherwise, they have these Hooah bars... www.soldierfuel.com

Foxer, thanks for the compliments and advice, but we'll sleep when we die.  Or maybe we can catch a few Zs between RECOIL & No. 14.  It's a vicious cycle, if you guys buy, buy, buy, Random House will renew our contract so we write, write, write.  And that's what keeps pork and beans on the table.
