"Heartbreak Ridge"

I just saw a Clint Eastwood movie, "Heartbreak Ridge," involving Marine Recon. It was not very convincing, but that's just me. Any of you guys see it? Comments?

Panzer Guy:  It was one of Eastwood's poorer performances.  There were no Marines at Heartbreak Ridge in Korea so to account for his presence there, he says he was in the army before he enlisted in the Corps.  I don't remember that much of the movie now, it's been a while, but I recall some huge muscle-bound dude and of course Eastwood was easily over 50 at the time himself, hardly the lean and mean types required of  good force recon Marines.

There were really no Marines there? That is a major suprize. But yes, it was a poor performance, and it was a lond-winded film as I think of it. It had it's moments of brilliance, like giving money to one of the other Gunnys, but all in all.... it was a bad film.

The part where he shoots at them from a 2nd story building in training was filmed at School of Infantru at Camp Pendelton... We did our basic MOUT training there... (well all the MOUT training us non-grunts would get).... They call it MOUT Town.... but there is a gigantic area we saw as recruits nestled near "The Reaper" aka "Edson's Ridge" for our final "Crucible" hike.... that one was amazing... wish we could have done more MOUT in MCT...

Not to bash the Corps, but I'd sooner join the French Foreign Legion then become an American Marine. (I'd also sooner die then become a Royal Marine, but that's probably because I was raised by IRA members.)
