Imagine  starship on orbit around a skink infested planet, there are a large number of skinks that Jack dely can't get past . he calls in  a laser strike from orbit, gives the coords and Bam problem solved Jep'ray 357 posts Joined 10/6/2007 Re: New tech Posted: 18 Dec 07 5:02 PM hmm something along the lines of the AC-130 gunship, that supports ranger units and delta force, in the current army...not sure how well on the ball a strike from orbit would be, alot of factors can cause a small drift off target into something like a 2 kilometer miss...and the type of weapons that ships use, would most like iradiated the area of the strike...making impossible for the fist to occupy it, or move through it...most likely it wont happen...more for the safty of the marines than anything else...
