Schultz and Recon?

I think the two would get along fine. :-)
Or maybe that's part of Schultz's backstory - that he once was, or nearly was, Recon... and something went wrong for him. Hence why he never wants to be a Corporal (again?)

kb7iuj,
The Hammer and Recon? Nevah hoppen, Joe. Schultz likes to fight, Recon usually avoids fights.
Some people simply like the military life, but don't want the responsibility that comes with rank. They used to be called "professional privates," but were done away with in the mid-sixties when the "up or out" policy was instituted. We had one in my company in Hawaii, a private who had repeatedly turned down promotion to PFC. The policy change came down not long before his enlistment was up. He was very upset when he learned that he couldn't ship over without being promoted to PFC. He accepted it when he was assured that all it meant was he'd have a bigger payday. But privately, everybody in the company wondered how he'd react when it came time to reenlist again and he realized he had to be promoted to lance corporal in order to do so. At that place and time, lance corporals normally did corporals' jobs--much more responsibility than a "professional private" wanted.

I agree David. Schultz in recon? Purposterous, he's a killing machine! The day I see Schultz in force recon is the day I see Charlie Bass become a coward, and Charlie ain't no coward!

I'm coming at this from a long time after the last post, but I just have to say that I don't think Schultz is a "killing machine." I've been watching him, courtesy of our Respected Authors, and he is no simple killer: Schultz is a Soldier. Yes, yes, I know he's a Marine, but I mean Soldier in the very basic sense that any military member is a Soldier.
Nevertheless, Schultz would do well in Force Recon I believe. If he had to.
