I just have to say this: As much as I love the Skinks, I would become bored with the series if the same event kept on repeating itself. I liked how Doyle became a squad leader. I never saw that coming. It was too bad about Smeldy though, he was a good Marine (Tear drop down on face, nah, just kidding) Will Ratlif or Wolfman become a main focus in the books? I wonder who else the 34th FIST will fight? I cannot wait until the Skink Home World is invaded, although it might be a repeat of the Klendathu Invasion(The operation in the book was quite diffrent from the crappy movie). I hope we see Hway again and mabey see Dean's kid/kids!

I just finished Firestorm, and Point Blank the past two days. I very satisfied, yet kinda sad cause have long wait now for the next in the series. As for this thread, I believe that Bass's promotion to LT was A forgone conclusion, not resultant of the Ravenette campaign. In the books before he was told he would get promoted to LT eventually anyway. Im glad he got it cause "Ensign" Bass, name wise just didnt sound right from the get go. Firestorm was great book, flat out.

Trangers, well, the way the CMC is organized every enlisted Marine can become an officer. In fact nobody can be an officer in the CMC unless they've served in the enlisted ranks. We designed it that way because we wanted this series to concentrate on the enlisted people, not on the officer swine.
