A1 sauce is delicious though. I could go for a big juicy steak and some A1 sauce now. Thanks Skinkster.

I thought this book was poorly put together.  I noticed a trend in the last books that is just overly used in this book where they Skinks are just written as incompetent buffoons.  They seem to do almost nothing correctly and the Marines can do almost nothing wrong.  We don't even see the "incompetent' Marine officer as a character anymore like in the first few books.  Now the Marines (and even Army) can do no wrong and the Skinks are lucky if they don't chop their 'wangs' off walking down a hallway.

That not how to make drama. Their has to be some tension that then enemy is competent enough to win as well.   We have to believe the Skinks are at least competent if winning by the Marines is going to be meaningful.

At this point I don’t really have much desire to read the next book because this one really just seems poorly written.  Sorry one man’s opinion, but I was very disappointed.

Well, the Skinks in Force Recon: Recoil, did a much better job. In this one, they lacked skills though
The Prime Master read the message again. This time, by the time he finished reading, he smiled beatifically. The message included a great deal of information about the Earthman Army and airpower and their tactics. This was inteligence that would serve the Emperor's army well when it next encountered the Earthman Army. As it most assuredly would.......

MonkeyKing, I'm sorry you didn't like WoH. Others found it exciting. Hey, that's the way things go, and why we have vanilla, chocolate, AND Cherries Garcia. Every author has the occasional off book. I tend to allow someone at least two or three consecutive off books before I stop reading him. Some who I've stopped reading because they seem to me to just be going through the motions still live on the NYT bestseller list with everything they write. C'est la vie.

FYI. The Skinks have a real life historical precedent--a powerful army that changed its tactics too slowly and eventually lost a very large and horrendous war that it should have won. No, don't ask, I won't tell you who it was.
