Is it possible that another war similar to Napoleon will happen again? there hasnt been any large wars in Europe since the Slavic wars, not counting the Russian invasion of Georgia.
The Prime Master read the message again. This time, by the time he finished reading, he smiled beatifically. The message included a great deal of information about the Earthman Army and airpower and their tactics. This was inteligence that would serve the Emperor's army well when it next encountered the Earthman Army. As it most assuredly would.......

What we had under Napoleon was war of continental scale. Just about every country from Russia in the northeast of Europe to Portugal in the southwest was involved to a greater or lesser extent. (Not to mention Nappy's excursion into Egypt.)

Such a war requires powerful international rivalries and strong leaders capable of forcing their countries into unilateral war. Today, Europe is going in the opposite direction; toward a pan-European union. Beyond that, it's a historical truism that democracies don't make war on each other. As for the rest of the world, in alphabetic order:

Africa. Lacks the infrastructure and wealth for anything larger than regional wars.

Antarctica. Get real.

Asia. I doubt that anybody would want to get militarily involved in a war between India and Pakistan, and China is too damn big and strong for anybody, including the Japanese, to go up against.

Australia. One country, one continent, no other countries to go to war with.

North America. The US is a 600 pound gorilla between a couple of undersized chimps. No contest. Even if you throw in the Central American countries, that only adds a few smallish monkeys to the equation.

South America. See Africa. And at the risk of offending someone, who cares?

Take a look at 20th Century history, we already had two wars of even greater scale than Napoleon ever managed; WWI and WWII.

I do, however, see a (somewhat remote) possibility of another war of world scale: between the Muslim world and basically everybody else. But nobody other than a few nut cases wants that.

Interesting.

I still think that Napoleon's plan to invade England would of worked if he built a large enough navy.

Come on guys respond lol. would anyone like any other war threads?
